Over the past several months the Lord has been telling me not to premeditate, imagine or work out in my mind what is coming, because we do not have the capacity to gage what the Lord has in store for us. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Cor. 2:9. It has never happened before.

Instead, the Lord has continually instructed me to rid myself of the expectation that I have in how and when He will “work all things” out. We are in a time where it is so crucial to empty our mind of the limitations that we have set on the Lord, and make our minds a clean slate for Him to work out His creative miracles. “The Father is the One who sets the fixed dates and the times of their fulfillment.” Acts 1:7 “At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” Is. 60:22

In our desperation to understand what is happening we easily gravitate to things that make sense, but there is no making sense of what is happening right now, and there is no making sense of God, for “His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts than our thoughts.” Is 55:9 We are limited by our own experiences, opinions and the opinions of others around us, but they will quickly let us down. When I saw all of this, what turmoil filled my heart, piercing my opinion with Your truth. Psalm 73:21 “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you.” Romans 12:2

When we allow ourselves to “roll play” in our head how God is going to work things out, we absolutely set ourselves up for disappointment and we easily fall into offense.

In John 6, many of Jesus’ followers turned away from following Him. “And so from that time on many of the disciples turned their backs on Jesus and refused to be associated with Him.” John 6:66 They could only see in the natural, but Jesus spoke of spiritual truth when He told them, “Unless you eat the body of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you will not have eternal life.” John 6:53 Jesus knew they were outraged and told them, “Are you offended over My teaching? What will you do when you see the Son of Man ascending into the realm from where He came?” John 6:61-62

If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves. Proverbs 29:18

So how do we navigate through this time of uncertainty? We don’t have to fumble and stumble through every day, constantly wondering and guessing.

Jesus tells us in John 5:19, “The Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.”

As we seek the Lord consistently and spend time in His word, “Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of Your word makes my pathway clear.  Psalm 119:105 “We look away from the natural realm and we fasten (focus, fix) our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection.”  Hebrews 12:2 The Holy Spirit is the One who gives life, that which is of the natural realm is of no help. The words I speak to you are Spirit and life.” John 16:63

Cling to Jesus and look to Him to “lead us and guide us in the way we should go”, and “Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on Him to guide you, and He will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with Him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go.” Proverbs 3:5-6

As we “wait for the Lord, and hope in His Word”, Psalm 130:5 our Prince of Peace will cover us and hedge us in the days to come. Do not “lean on your own understanding”, trusting in lofty opinions and intellect, but instead; “Be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes.” Romans 12:2

Because Your words are my deepest delight, I didn’t give up when all else was lost. I can never forget the profound revelations You’ve taught me, for they have kept me alive more than once. Psalm 119:92-93
